Find your Big Three
Your Sun, Moon and Rising signs are the heart of your chart. Enter your birth date, exact time and city to find all three at once, with the logic behind each.
What is the Big Three in astrology?
Your Big Three are your Sun, Moon and Rising signs, the three placements astrologers reach for first. The Sun is who you are at your core, the Moon is how you feel underneath, and the Rising is how you come across before anyone knows you. On their own each is one line; together they give a quick but surprisingly complete picture of a person, which is why "what's your Big Three?" has become the new "what's your sign?".
How the Big Three calculator works
The calculator needs your birth date, exact time and city. Your Sun sign comes from the date alone, but your Moon shifts sign every couple of days and your Rising shifts every couple of hours, so the time and place matter. Enter your details above and an astronomy engine works out the real sky at your birth moment, places all three signs to the degree, and explains each in plain English. Tap any placement to read the reasoning behind it.
Your Sun, Moon and Rising, explained
Your core identity, ego and the way you shine. The headline of your whole chart, set by the day you were born.
Your emotions, instincts and what makes you feel safe. The private inner you, set by your birth date and time.
Your Ascendant: the first impression you give and your natural style. Set by the exact time and place of birth.
Why your birth time and place matter
The Sun moves slowly and predictably, so your Sun sign only needs the date. The Moon is the fastest body in the chart, changing sign every two to three days, so even the date can be borderline without a time. The Rising sign changes roughly every two hours as the Earth turns, so being off by an hour or two can land you on a different Ascendant entirely. For an accurate Big Three, use an exact birth time from your birth certificate if you can, along with your birth city.

Your Sun sign needs only the date, but your Moon changes sign every couple of days and your Rising changes every couple of hours as the Earth turns. So an exact birth time, ideally from your birth certificate, plus your birth city, are needed to get your Moon and Rising right.
